If you’ve never heard of Laurel DeWitt or seen her amazing work, you are living under a rock that is so last season. Remember Amber Rose’s red carpet number at the 2014 MTV Music Awards? OK!
From the enchanting-metal headpieces to the intricately styled tops, bottoms, and dresses, Laurel DeWitt has managed to take wearable jewelry design to its own level; and her shows continue to give that anticipating affect of awe every year.
One word to describe Laurel Dewitt’s show: DETAILS. This show, in its 3rd year, featured combinations of black & gold, hints of silvers, and plenty of gold… giving a combination of Ancient Egypt and Renaissance fashion. Her vivid use of draping chains and tassels, shiny-plated armor, and chain fringes was displayed in unique hand-crocheted form for her F/W 2015 COLLECTION. Every single look that graced the runway displayed unique detailing; down to the leather fishnet masks.
The highlight of the evening was Amber Rose walking in the show; wearing a black & gold paillette & chain poncho with a chain & leather fishnet mask and leather fishnet gloves.
The finale look was that of an Egyptian queen on a chess board. You can’t help but wonder, “how many pounds of metal does it takes to create such beauty?” It takes a very special person to wear such an immaculate piece. Hence DeWitt having model, Rayuana Aleyce (as seen on Season 12 of Project Runway) close every show.
To add a sweet touch, treats for the show were provided by BCakeNY, which blended perfect with the ambiance of the show.
The metal-bending, chain-linking line of Laurel DeWitt makes her more than just a designer. She is an artist, an architect, and a visionary of mastery; bringing the beauty of metal to the eyes of all one look at a time.
Keep an eye on Laurel DeWitt. There’s more in store from this Brooklyn gem!
